A great deal of undergraduate teaching at the University of Oxford is
done not by college fellows or members of faculty, but by part-time
tutors, employed on a casual, termly basis.
This small army of part-time tutors comprises mainly advanced graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.
I was a part-time philosophy tutor at Oxford, for various colleges and for the Department for Continuing Education,
from 2006-2010.
I taught a variety of courses, both face-to-face and online; to the University's conventional
undergraduates and to its extra-mural students.
I'm now a full-time, independent philosophy tutor; so the success of my private students in my
sole professional concern.
